BANDS OF 30A TO HOST MARCH 4 CHARITY CONCERT AT THE HUB 30A

Spring Kick-off Concert Will Benefit the Special Olympics Florida – Walton County

and the Foundation for Prader-Willi Syndrome Research

Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. (February 20, 2018) – The Bands of 30A is kicking off its 2018 season with a charity concert from 1 – 6 p.m. on March 4 at the Hub 30A. This concert marks the third concert put on by the Bands of 30A, an organization designed to bring local musicians together to support meaningful charities. The featured beneficiaries receiving all proceeds from the concert are the Special Olympics Florida – Walton County and the Foundation for Prader-Willi Syndrome Research.

The concert lineup begins with the Luke Langford Band at 1 p.m., followed by Shatzi and the String Boffin at 2 p.m., Songwriters Round (a small group of local singer-songwriters coming together) at 3 p.m., New Earth Army at 4 p.m., and Cadillac Willy closing the concert out at 5 p.m.

The event is free to attend, but concertgoers are asked to make a $10 donation. Donations may be made at the event or ahead of time on www.Bandsof30A.com. Event is open to the public. Limited seating is available. Concertgoers are welcome to bring chairs and blankets to the event. Guests who purchase an official Bands of 30A cup from the donation table can take advantage of happy hour drinks at The Hub’s Mile Marker 15 Bar from 1 to 6 p.m.

A limited number of $60 VIP passes are also available featuring premium concert seating, an event t-shirt and Bands of 30A merchandise provided by iPROMOTEu, and an official Bands of 30A cup for happy hour drinks. VIP tickets much be purchased in advance at www.bandsof30A.com

To support the concert and answer questions about their respective organizations, Special Olympics athletes and Angel, a young Crestview girl who has been diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome will be at the concert.

Crystal Smith, owner of 30A Event Planning and secretary for Bands of 30A, is the volunteer coordinator for Special Olympics Florida – Walton County. “I enjoy spending time with the athletes, seeing the joy on their faces as they compete, and the camaraderie between each of them,” she says of her work with the organization. “It’s a special gift to be a part of something that has nothing but positive reinforcement in their lives.”

In addition to the Special Olympics, Bands of 30A chose to support the Foundation for Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) Research in honor of Rare Disease Day on February 28. This particular foundation is special to Bands of 30A co-founder and president Casey Kearney after witnessing the enormous sacrifices a Crestview family makes daily to love and care for their five-year-old daughter Angel who was born with PWS – a disease recognized as the most common genetic cause of life-threatening childhood obesity along with other complications and issues. To learn more about PWS, visit www.fpwr.org.

“When you look at Angel, you don’t see all those things,” says Kearney. “You see a beautiful little girl blessed with a family who daily sacrifices on her behalf to help her have the most productive life possible. There are so many other PWS families with similar stories.”

The Hub 30A is located on scenic highway 30A in Watersound Beach just west of Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach. The Hub 30A is a collection of unique local eateries and shops in an open-air community setting. To learn more about the concert location, visit hub30A.com.

In its first two charity concerts in September and December 2017, Bands of 30A raised nearly $20,000 for charity.
